Mark Lui, born 1969 in Hong Kong, is known to most people as a musician, who has written and produced nearly 1000 pop songs and 40 original movie soundtracks. At the “Hong Kong Film Awards” in 1995, Mark won his first ever musical award, “The Best Original Soundtrack”, for the movie, “The Lovers”, a collaboration work with his mentor, the late Mr. James Wong. Since then and still happening, Mark has been collecting all sorts of musical awards like “The Best Composer”, “The Best Producer”, “Song of the Year” and “Album of the Year” year after year.
Being trained as a civil engineer at the Imperial College London, UK, Mark has been involved in many interior design projects throughout the years, from residential spaces to commercial retail outlets in different sizes and scales. He found his own design company, Mark Lui Design Works, in 2009. The business extends Mark’s design talent to different fields and categories, from interior designs to creating his own menswear fashion label. In 2010, Mark won the “Perspective Awards For Interior Design” awarded by Perspective Magazine. In 2014, by teaming up with Hong Kong tourbillon watch brand and manufacturer, Memorigin, they produced “The Time Machine”, a limited edition of tourbillon watch. The 200 limited editions were being distributed worldwide and sold out in a very short period of time. In the same year, Mark teamed up with business partner RT Management Limited and launched their very first event, Mark’s very own art and design exhibition — “Not About Pop Songs” at K11 Artspace. The exhibition was extremely well received and attracted brands around the world to collaborate with Mark Lui in producing series of designer products in many natures. Philips, Coronet by Aaron Shum Jewelry, Gibson Brands, Memorigin, Botkier New York, Hotel Sourcing International, HK Trade Development Council, just to name a few, are among the board working closely with Mark.
In March 2015, Mark is bringing his design inspiration to the next level. By teaming up with Coronet by Aaron Shum Jewelry and Gibson Brands, Mark has designed a masterful piece, the “Eden of Coronet”, a state-of-the-art diamond guitar which is made up of over 400 carats of top grade diamonds and 2 kilograms of gold. The “Eden of Coronet” will first ever be displayed in Hall 1 of BaselWorld 2015, the most important jewelry and watches trade show and exhibition of the year. The “Eden of Coronet” will be going after a Guinness World Record for “The Most Valuable Guitar” ever made.
